UniShip is not a stand-alone customer interface system, but a 2D code/label specification.
The UniShip label is based on a data matrix (2D) code, but does not contain routing information or package number. Shipper, recipient, product/service information and your invoice or delivery note number are included.
The customer creates the UniShip label in his merchandise management system according to GLS specifications.
The UniShip label can be used as an "Emergency Label" in case the actual GLS customer system (e.g. the UniBox) is not available due to a malfunction. Once the parcel is scanned at the UniStation, a routed shipping label is created and the corresponding parcel order data is sent to the central GLS systems.
UniShip supports only a limited range of products and services.
